UNITER.RO INTERVIEW – EUGEN ȚUGULEA
Eugen Ţugulea: "An actor cannot forget his roles, just as a mother cannot forget her children!"
The actor will receive a special award for a life dedicated to theater and poetry at the UNITER Awards Gala taking place on May 9 in Oradea.
Eugen Ţugulea was employed all his life at the "Regina Maria" Theater in Oradea, where he served as its director for two terms. Although he has long since retired, he constantly gives poetry recitals of all genres – from folkloric to Michelangelo, Topârceanu, Eminescu, Nichita Stănescu.
an interview by Florina Tecuceanu Florina Tecuceanu: You were born in Vaslui, you started the Faculty of Acting in Cluj, you graduated in Bucharest and then you were hired at the State Theater in Oradea, where you acted for a lifetime. How did you come to have such a “sinuous” path? Eugen Tugulea: In fact, it was even more tortuous: we "fell" in Bucharest, we succeeded, a few days later, in Iaşi, the Iaşi Institute was dissolved, we moved to Cluj-Napoca, we did three years there and after a similar situation to the one in Iaşi, we moved to Bucharest, where, finally, we graduated. And because, during the military training, we did our incorporation in Oradea, seeing the Theater building, we decided (we, the students from the Cluj group) to come, "in corpore", here! Which we did. In 1955, twelve of the graduates contributed to the formation of the nucleus that laid the foundations of the Romanian Section of the Oradea State Theater - today the "Regina Maria" Theater in Oradea - the "Iosif Vulcan" Troupe. Over time, many left for other theaters or... to other worlds!... I stayed! Even though over sixty years have passed since then.
