SUCCESS IN BAIA MARE: Fiddler on the Roof

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 5 Jun, 2012.

The Regina Maria Theatre had the great pleasure of opening the 20th edition of the International Theatre Festival "Atelier" in Baia Mare (which takes place from June 3 to 9) on Sunday, June 3. This is the seventh edition to be held in Baia Mare, the festival having also taken place in Sighișoara or Sfântu Gheorghe in previous years.

The ATELIER International Theatre Festival is an unconventional theatre event that aims to highlight the latest trends in contemporary dramaturgy, organised by the Baia Mare Municipal Theatre in collaboration with the League for Theatre. A competition is also held within the festival, with prizes, and our theatre has received prizes for each participation. In 2006, we participated with the show THE MERRY WIFE OF WINDSOR (by William Shakespeare, stage direction Victor-Ioan Frunză) and received the Best Direction Award (Victor-Ioan Frunză), the Best Supporting Actress Award: Ioana Dragoş Gajdo (with the role of Mrs Quickly) and the Best Music Award: Cari Tibor. In 2011, we participated with the show THIS CHILD (by Joel Pommerat, artistic direction Vlad Massaci), where we received the Best Supporting Actress Award – Corina Cernea.

A LAST TRIBUTE TO THE LATE DIRECTOR SZOMBATI GILLE OTTO

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 28 May, 2012.

The artistic collective of the Regina Maria Theater in Oradea mourns the passing of the beloved director Szombati Gille Otto and stands with the bereaved family.

Many actors of our theater knew him personally, were schoolmates, stagemates and old friends. He will always remain in their memory as a great director and reliable friend.

May God rest him in peace!

Those who knew and respected him are expected to pay their last respects on Wednesday, May 30, at 12 noon, in the foyer of the Theater. The funeral will also take place on Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at the Steinberger Chapel.

He was born on January 29, 1930 in Oradea. He was employed for several years at the Hungarian Theatre in Timişoara, but spent most of his years in Oradea, having an intense and fruitful activity at the two sections of the State Theatre.

REGINA MARIA THEATRE, PARTNER IN THE GIANT EGGS AUCTION

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 26 Apr, 2012.

The "Giant Eggs" campaign brings a new ultrasound machine to the Maternity Hospital

„"By giving from the heart, we create a better world." On this principle, the third edition of the Giant Eggs Campaign, held at Lotus Center by the Pro Valoare Foundation, was a real success! People with big hearts were once again with children, for a noble cause, the purchase of a high-performance ultrasound machine for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the Oradea County Emergency Clinical Hospital.

The cost of the device, which is to be equipped in the maternity ward, was estimated by manager Gheorghe Carp at 36,000 euros, VAT included. And although at first the goal seemed difficult to achieve, relatives and dear friends understood its necessity and donated amounts, each according to their means, so that their peers could lead a better life.

FOUR PREMIERES COMING SOON AT THE REGINA MARIA THEATRE

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 25 Apr, 2012.

After the short holiday break, here we are in full creative fever: The Regina Maria Theater is preparing no less than four premieres that will take place starting in May. Thus, the Iosif Vulcan Troupe is repeating two shows: “End of the Game” by Samuel Beckett, directed by Emil Sauciuc (with a cast consisting of Petre Ghimbăşan, Şerban Borda, Tiberiu Covaci and Mirela Niţă-Lupu) and “Phantom Pains” by Vasilii Sigariov, directed by Bogdan Huşanu (with Alexandru Rusu, Pavel Sîrghi and Mihaela Gherdan).

At Arcadia Troupe we are preparing a surprise for young and old alike: an adaptation of Ion Creangă's fairy tale, "The Goat with Three Kids", directed by Daniel Vulcu. The surprise consists of a special appearance by the beloved Oradea magicians, Eduard and Bianca.

The members of the Crişana Professional Artistic Ensemble are not left behind either, so they are also preparing a premiere show: a "Concert In Memoriam Elisabeta Pavel", to pay due homage to this emblem of Bihor folk music.

SCHOOL PROGRAM DIFFERENTLY

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 2 Apr, 2012.

The Regina Maria Theatre responded positively to the School Otherwise Program and tried to cover as wide an area as possible geographically through the planned performances. Thus, between April 2-6, 2012, we planned a total of 16 performances for students – six performances at the Arcadia Hall, five performances at the Great Hall, two performances at Şimleu Silvaniei, two performances at Marghita and one performance at Beiuş.

“Alternative School” offers a new experience to schools in Romania. Although many of them have experience with extracurricular projects, a week of activities carried out outside of class hours, with projects and events specific to each school cycle in which all the school's students are involved, is a great challenge and a novelty in the local landscape.

WORLD THEATRE DAY MESSAGE

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 27 Mar, 2012.

World Theatre Day – March 27, 2012

International Message

“I am honored by the invitation of the UNESCO International Theatre Institute to greet the 50th anniversary of the first World Theatre Day. I will address a few brief thoughts to all my colleagues and friends in the theatres.

I wish your work to be compelling and original. I wish it to be profound, to move, to provoke reflection, to be unique. May it help us meditate on what it means to be human, and may this meditation be blessed with soul, sincerity, innocence and grace. I wish you to overcome adversity, censorship, poverty and nihilism, which many of you will surely be forced to do. I wish you to be blessed with the talent and rigor necessary to teach us the human heartbeat in all its complexity, as well as the modesty and curiosity necessary to make this your life's work. May the best among you - for only those, only rarely and only for a short time, will succeed - be able to illustrate the elementary question: "What is life like?". Good luck!" (John Malkovich)
