Fairy tale with actors
Original text by Ion Lucian and Virgil Puicea after Ion Creangă

„"Success with the public followed them since the spring of this year, when, on April 25, a premiere, a show-event, of European scope, took place at the Romanian section. It is "Păcală", directed by Ion Mâinea, the scenography is signed by Oana Cernea. The novelty consisted in the fact that for the first time a theater-dance manner was approached, with folkloric overtones, including the soundtrack (Fraţii Petreuş, Gheorghe Zamfir)." (Loredana Nicoară, Crisana, (August 9, 2004)

„The biggest success of the year was the play «Păcală», after a show of the same name written by Ion Lucian. The show was directed by Ion Mâinea, and the set design was made by Oana Cernea. As a character, Păcală is very well known and exists in the oral literature of several peoples. In addition to these shows, the Theatre participated with the Romanian section at the Cluj festival, where it won the specialty award with «King Zorzon». (…) The Arcadia Theatre was a co-organizer of the Short Theatre Week that took place in Oradea last autumn. (Ciprian Zopota, information, 2004)

The blue puppy

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2003-2004 Season

Musical with actors and puppets
Free adaptation by Urbán Gyula after Jan Lewitt – George Him

„"A unique thing in the history of the Arcadia Theatre followed, it was the idea of staging a show, in Romanian ("The Blue Puppy") and Hungarian ("Hupikék Péter"), which enjoyed great success. The idea belonged to András Szőke Kavinszki, head of the department within this institution." (Loredana Nicoară, Crişana, August 9, 2004)

„"The first show of the season was a premiere in many ways. A director from Hungary, Urbán Gyula, staged the same show, both in the Romanian and Hungarian sections. In Hungarian, the play is called «Hupikék Péter», which translated into Romanian as «The Blue Puppy». It was well received by the young spectators in both sections." (Ciprian Zopota, Informaţia, 2004)

Bimbo and the Pink Panther

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 1994-1995 Season

Musical show with actors and puppets by George Mihalache

„"The children brought to the Puppet Theater, in a general commotion, await the curtain to rise and the appearance of the usual puppets. To the surprise and delight of the little spectators, some large and lively "puppets" appear, with all the props, of course tightrope walking - clowning - pant legs to the rhythm of captivating and engaging music, very easy for children to remember, authored by Prof. Gheorghe David. His music constitutes a true "character" of the entire show. […]

The text of the show "Bimbo and the Pink Panther" belongs to the author George Mihalache and is a reference to characters beloved by children: the elephant Bimbo, the Pink Panther, Tarzan, pirates, long-distance captains, harlequins, etc., and the actual story of the Pink Panther's rescue includes allusions to domestic-contemporary aspects of our current times, reviving the interest and lines of the young spectators, often the actors being in a lively dialogue with the audience.
