THE LITTLE BOY WHO COULD BITE HIS NOSE

In a fairy tale, a little boy managed to do something completely and utterly extraordinary, even impossible some would say: he bit his nose. Since such an amazing phenomenon, unique in the world, multiverse and any verse, cannot be kept secret, mom and dad got excited, took advice and concluded that it must be seen by everyone. The doctor consulted him, researched and was amazed. The influencer taught him everything he needed to know to become a big star. The journalist gave him media coverage. The mayor even awarded him an award. A lot of people came curiously to the big event organized on this occasion. But, each preoccupied with their own things, the adults forgot to ask the child what he really wanted?

Song and game from the ancestors_Press release

The Professional Artistic Ensemble "Crișana" invites you to the extraordinary concert "Song and game from the ancestors", which will take place on Thursday, July 1, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall of the Regina Maria Theater and has as special guest the well-known traditional music performer from the Țării Lăpușului area, Grigore Lese.

Doctor of Music and professor at the University of Music in Bucharest, Grigore Leșe is a true ambassador of Romanian folk traditions, being among the few performers who preserve and transmit their timeless beauty and depth unaltered.

Our people have always managed to transpose their joys, sufferings, aspirations and teachings into song and dance, which are an invaluable wealth of folkloric heritage. Folk song, in particular, has penetrated deeply into Romanian spirituality, being a true bearer of the philosophy of the Romanian people.

Grigore Leșe's repertoire consists exclusively of ancient songs, which bring a piece of the archaic wisdom of our ancestors into the contemporary world, creating a strong bond between the present and the past, so necessary in building and maintaining identity and authenticity.

Along with the special guest, the ensemble's orchestra and dance corps will also take the stage, as will the vocal soloists Leontin Ciucur, Otilia Haragoș Seghedi, Bianca Popa - finalist of the television show "Vedeta populară", broadcast by TVR1 - and the instrumental artists Stângaciu and Petrică Popa.

Tickets can be purchased either online, on the Eventim.ro platform, or starting one hour before the show at the Theatre Agency. Access to the performance hall will be done respecting the rules for preventing COVID-19 infection, namely: mandatory wearing of a mask, thermal scanning at the entrance, hand disinfection and distancing.

We look forward to seeing you!

In memory of Mircea Bradu

How strange life is! About two months ago – around April, when I had also turned a few years old – Mircea wrote a newspaper page about me and my work, as about a friend and collaborator you knew and appreciated. We even talked on the phone without knowing that it would be our last conversation!

We have known each other for a long time, since 1959, when we worked together as methodologists at the Regional House of Popular Creation Crișana, then, after he started "writing theater" and I became director, I promoted him, based on merit, and we played roles in each of his plays, whether they were called "Vlad the Impaler in January", "White Night", "The Decision", or others that followed.

I supported him, together with Elisabeta Pop, during his long period as director and we remained friends even after we were no longer directors…!

He wished me "happy birthday!" I am forced, like all his friends, to shed a tear for the man who was Mircea Bradu and to express my belief that his name will remain a reference for what literature and art mean - in this generous area for those who love and respect the creators of beauty!

...Someone else has left! Such is life!

Press release_I love the world, let me sing to you

The Professional Artistic Ensemble "Crișana" invites you to the folklore concert "My dear world, let me sing to you", which will take place on Thursday, June 24, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall of the Regina Maria Theater.

June 24th marks the celebration of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and coincides with the popular holiday The Sanzienes. The show "Dragu-mi-i lume să-ti cânt" will be held on the theme of the Sânzienela, which in the old tradition also bears, in some areas of the country, the name Summer cap or DragaicaThe origins of the popular holiday go back a long time, being derived either from a Roman cult, the name used in Transylvania or Maramureș coming from the Roman goddess of hunting and chastity, Diana – Sancta Diana, or from the Thracian culture, from the divinity Artemis-Bendis, or from an ancient solar cult, in which they were the priestesses of the sun.

The most widespread customs that are still preserved are related to the flowers of Sanziene, which are picked by girls, woven into wreaths that are placed at the gates and windows, to protect the house and bring health and abundance. In some areas, these wreaths were placed by young girls under their pillows in the hope that they would dream of their bear. Another ritual is the one in which wreaths of Sanziene flowers are thrown onto the roof of the house by each member of the family, and if they remain on the roof, it is believed that the person will live longer, on the other hand if they fall, then they will die sooner.

The performance of the Crișana Professional Artistic Ensemble will recreate on the stage of the Regina Maria Theatre the magic of the Sânziene celebration, intertwining the specific rituals with traditional music and dance. In the program you will be able to watch: the orchestra and the dance ballet corps of the ensemble and the soloists Otilia Haragoș Seghedi, Leontin Ciucur, the instrumental soloists Petrică Popa, Stângaciu, the younger students from the Crișana Workshops, Alex Lucaciu and Mădălina Markus, as well as special guests: the soloists Alexandru Pop and Ionela Moruțan. Conductor: Adrian Miescu. The choreography is signed by Ion Bencheci, the scenography by Oana Cernea, the script and artistic direction by Leontin Ciucur. The actors of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe Andrian Locovei and Angela Tanko will present.

The folk concert will be preceded the evening before, on June 23, of several preceding events, which invite us to enter the ritual of the celebration from the Night of Sânziene, a mythical time when the heavens open and magic is possible.

From 6:00 PM, we invite you to the parade of folk costumes, on the route of Piața Unirii – Piața Ferdinand, supported by the artists of the ensemble to mark the Universal Day of Ia, which is also celebrated on June 24, together with the Sânzienele. From 7:30 PM, in front of the Regina Maria Theater, the flag of the Sânzienele will be decorated, and from 9:00 PM, the theater will be surrounded by torches to drive away evil spirits.

Tickets for the folklore concert on June 24 can be purchased online, on the Eventim.ro platform or starting one hour before the show at the Theater Agency. Access to the performance hall will be done respecting the rules for preventing COVID-19 infection, namely: mandatory wearing of a mask, thermal scanning at the entrance, hand disinfection and distancing.

We look forward to seeing you!

"Crișana" Folklore Workshops, a successful project that is showing its fruits!

The "Crișana" Folklore Workshops project, launched at the beginning of October 2020 by the "Crișana" Professional Artistic Ensemble, was a wonderful opportunity to meet people passionate about folklore and eager to learn or improve. The courses dance, folk song and folk instrument were supported throughout this period by Leontin Ciucur, as initiator and supporter of the project, and by the trainers Adrian Miescu, Valean Vlad, Claudiu Căbuța, Florin Bontu, Petrică Popa, Mihai Teodorescu and Otilia Haragoș Seghedi.

This project was born from the desire to train young artists who would proudly and responsibly promote traditions, customs, ancestral language, dances and folk costumes, thus contributing to preserving the values and cultural identity of the Romanian people.

During the meetings, the participants learned to coordinate their movements in the rhythm of an organized game, acquired physical endurance and the ability to be present on stage with ease and confidence, and these qualities can already be observed in the footage taken at rehearsals and posted on the Facebook page of the "Crișana" Professional Artistic Ensemble.

We invite you to follow the progress of some of the most involved members of the group of young artists formed within the "Crișana" Professional Artistic Ensemble, Maria Secan, Mădălina Markus, Alex Lucaciu, Vlad Popa, Denis Lezeu, Bogdan Toie, Réman Gergő, Marian Buzaș, Andrei Costa, Eric Cotca and Bogdan Coca: https://www.facebook.com/ansamblulcrisana

DADA CABARETU – online ǀ April 3, 2021

On Saturday, April 3, from 7:00 PM, online for free on the Regina Maria Theatre's Facebook page, we invite you to revisit an extravagant, playful, shocking show: THE DADA CABARET, by Matei Vișniec, directed by Anca Bradu. Controversial and comical through the insertions of avant-garde artistic terribleness, but also serious through the notes of tragic political discourse, the show sparked contrary reactions, from roars of applause and admiration, to shock and bewilderment, so that the premises of artistic avant-garde were punctuated, without losing sight of the profound meaning of a disturbing century.

THE SONG OF OUR PASSION | Premiere

THE SONG OF OUR PASSION
recital on verses by Octavian Goga, performed by actor Eugen Țugulea on the occasion of International Poetry Day

The Regina Maria Theater invites you on Sunday, March 21, from 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall, to the recital performance on verses by Octavian Goga: "The Song of Our Passion", organized on the occasion of International Poetry Day. The recital will be given by actor Eugen Țugulea, laureate of the UNITER Awards Gala in 2016 with Special Award for a Life Dedicated to Theater and Poetry.

The choice of a Transylvanian poet, and in particular Octavian Goga, is not at all accidental and has both a historical and a personal motivation. First of all, this year marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of the poet Octavian Goga (April 1, 1881), and the date on which the recital will take place is very close to its anniversary, thus marking, in addition to celebrating International Poetry Day through a tribute to a valuable Romanian poet, this event as well.
