The Regina Maria Theatre invites you between December 11-15 to "Open House Week". Visitors will enjoy guided tours of the theater building and admire the exhibition "Theatres by Fellner and Helmer. Subtle reflections on local specificities and identity values", which is the result of extensive research, carried out by the Romanian architect and specialist in historical monuments, Loredana Stasisin, at the initiative of the Austrian Cultural Forum Bucharest.
The theater building can be visited between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, by reservation at the phone number 0359.411.535 (Monday-Friday: 09:00-16:00), within the limit of available places (maximum 20 people/tour) with the mention that the last entry is at 15:30.
For many years, certainly many over 30, I have tried to explain to successive series of students that the French 17th century is neither (or is not only) the Classical Century, nor the Great Century, nor the Century of Louis XIV. That all these labels only partially cover its historical, artistic, philosophical, aesthetic and literary complexity, and that once criticism and literary history have discovered the beauties and delights of the Baroque, and have also found a good part of its preciousness (as opposed to the ridiculousness in which it failed), it would be appropriate to set aside many of the statements in the old textbooks, products of academics from the old Sorbonne tradition and from the old criticism. After all, rules, order, balance dominated only part of the century in question.
A Horse Walks into a Bar by David Grossman and Plato and the Platypus Walks into a Bar… A Little Treatise on Philosdotics by Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein, they were the ones that came to mind when I heard the first line from the final moment, the one in which Cyrano, with everyone around him, says bluntly “A man walks into a bar…”. And what an exit from the stage followed after this line. Yes, after all, a man walks into a bar for many reasons, but especially out of an acute need for stories. Cyrano is the embodiment of the story, he is still a story, he is its most resistant fiber, which has brilliantly passed the test of time. The entire show, recently entered the repertoire of the Regina Maria Theater in Oradea, is conceived in this vein. But to get to "A Man Walks Into a Bar..." you go through personal wars and those of the contemporary world, you go over infidelities, indecisions and rudeness of human nature, you go through the trenches of the soul besieged from all sides by rudeness, false elitism and imposture. And this series of passages turns into a party, in other words into a show, because what other reason do you need to come to the theater in the year of grace 2023?
"Christmas in the Land of Puppets" is a thematic event organized by the Arcadia Troupe of the Regina Maria Theater, which reached its second edition this year and will take place between December 12-18, 2023. Regina Maria Theatre – co-organizer and host of a vast research project dedicated to architectural heritage for the performing arts
During 2020-2023, at the initiative of the Austrian Cultural Forum Bucharest, the Romanian architect and specialist in historical monuments, Loredana Stasisin, undertook an extensive research effort that involved collaborating with 12 of the several dozen theaters built at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, throughout Europe – including four located in Romania – by the famous Austrian architectural office led by Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Gottfried Helmer. This effort aims at exhibitions in various reference spaces designed by the famous architects and the creation of the web platform "Theatres made by Fellner & Helmer. Subtle Reflections on local specificities and identity values".
The exhibition and web platform"Theatres made by Fellner & Helmer. Subtle Reflections on local specificities and identity values" will be launched in Oradea on November 30, 5:30 p.m., at the State Theater (King Ferdinand Square no. 4-6).
"Cyrano de Bergerac" is a theatrical tour de force, capturing passion that transcends time through spoken word, contemporary poetry and raw physicality. Cyrano seduces through rhythm and rhyme, using his linguistic brilliance to help another man win the heart of his true love, upholding - above all - his own unbridled love for words.
A genius of language, but convinced of his own ugliness, Cyrano secretly loves the sparkling Roxane, while Roxane is in love with the handsome but inarticulate Cristian.
Cyrano's generous offer to act as an intermediary between the two sets in motion a touching and often hilarious love triangle, in which each character is torn between the lure of physical attraction and the seductive power of words.
In this captivating adaptation by Martin Crimp of Edmond Rostand's masterpiece, "Cyrano de Bergerac" brings to the forefront questions of identity, beauty, and the true nature of love, offering a remarkable and memorable theatrical experience.

The Arcadia Theater is currently hosting the poster exhibition Be brave, don't let them in your mind!, dedicated to children who have faced bullying situations over time. The exhibition is the result of the work of six students from different schools in Oradea, who participated this summer in the "Antibullying Messengers" activities organized by psychologist Ioana Drugaș within the Drug Club.
"How, if not with immense regret, do we say goodbye to another colleague and dear friend? In recent years, George Voinese and Tiberiu Covaci have left us, and now, at the beginning of the season, Ion Ruscuț is leaving in great haste."
Ion came to Oradea after graduation and, lo and behold, he stayed in the theater, until his retirement years. He came then, a tall, handsome young man, full of vigor, talent and desire to assert himself. His teacher, director Zoe Anghel Stanca, introduced him, telling us how much she supported the Transylvanian who came to the exam to try his luck. She told us then, those in the theater, what it's like with talent and work on stage, with hard work, with dedication and luck. With the chance of the perfect meeting between the talent a young person is born with and what he adds to it later, through permanent preparation: readings, physical condition and mental contribution.
