The Regina Maria Theater thanks all the participants who sent their proposals within the Open Call dedicated to young directors! It was a close competition, with creative and original projects, which confirmed once again the talent of the new generation of directors.

"Hope Never Goes Up in the Elevator" brings to light a conflict that has become more acute in the context of today's world: that between the old world vs. the new world.
A single, elderly woman is placed in the care of two androids, specially programmed for this mission. However, the androids, at first, cannot fully understand the woman's needs, because their thinking is analytical and they cannot perceive the emotions and spiritual needs of their subject.
However, in the end, everyone benefits from this confrontation and there seems to be a trace of reconciliation between the two worlds.
On the occasion of National Culture Day, the Regina Maria Theater in Oradea is preparing a series of special events dedicated to celebrating Romanian cultural heritage. On Wednesday, January 15, the entire Bihor community is invited to participate in a series of activities that will bring to the fore both literary traditions and the importance of culture in our daily lives. From poetry performances and recitals dedicated to the great classics of Romanian literature, to interactive meetings with contemporary authors, the proposed program will respond to a wide spectrum of tastes and interests. Each event will be an opportunity to reflect on the role of culture in the formation of our national identity and to rediscover the beauty of the Romanian word.
Statistics say that the main cause of migration is generated by socio-political factors: persecution, war, conflicts. Elif flees at a young age from terror and threat, hoping to find a place where she can regain her right to exist, the fundamental right to be human.
But the mirage of freedom gradually turns into a struggle for validation, and she discovers how fragile the border between freedom and oppression is. The balance tips from political to economic dictatorship, and her fight for survival is gradually swallowed up by a Kafkaesque immigration system.
The fragile salvation lies in mythical thinking and the power of stories, like Scheherazade, but cynicism and cruelty throw the cruel weight of reality into her story, especially when she is put in the position of protecting her daughter.
"Elif and the Rain" is a contemporary fable about perseverance, the fight for justice and integration into an absurd bureaucratic system, but also about family, about the bond between an emigrant mother and her daughter born in the borrowed country, who live two different experiences of the same story.
The text seems necessary to me precisely because we live in a society in which individualism is the main ethical imperative, in which the Other has no value except to the extent that it can represent a means to achieve profit. I chose this text because it presents the immigrant's condition from two perspectives. The personal, human one, of the fears, of the torture given by this situation in which it is < > to exist in a place, of love, of searching for a < >, of the ways in which Elif colors this alienating existence. And the other, which is the political perspective, of man who is only worth as much as he can produce. Of man as a tool of labor and nothing more. And especially, of a bureaucratic system built to ensure that someone like Elif will never be able to obtain the rights necessary to overcome the condition of a simple tool of labor, will never be able to live as a human being. The Iosif Vulcan troupe of the Regina Maria Theater is preparing for the premiere of the show "Elif and the Rain" by Sami Ibrahim, directed by Alex Ianăși, scheduled for December 21 and 22, from 7:00 PM, at the Transilvania Hall.
Sami Ibrahim is a young London writer with a rising career, having already been nominated for Awards Olivier and receiving an award for political theater in 2019. Sami Ibrahim addresses themes in his texts that raise questions about pressing contemporary socio-political issues, questioning the social system that we have created and which sometimes turns against us, especially when we encounter Other.
The story "The Selfish Giant" was published in 1888 in the volume "The Happy Prince and Other Stories" by the author Oscar Wilde. Over time, the story has been read in many ways, with the religious interpretation being predominant. But regardless of the vision attributed to the story, the dominant themes remain love and redemption.

The Arcadia troupe announces the second premiere of the 2024/2025 season, "The Selfish Giant" based on the story by Oscar Wilde, directed by Ciprian Huțanu, which will be performed on Saturday, December 14, in two performances, at 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Dr. Stockmann, the idealistic doctor of a spa resort in a generic town, makes a shocking discovery: the springs that attract thousands of tourists to his town are not curative, but dangerous to health. It's just that the "heart that pumps life itself" in this town brings both income and advantages for all members of the social pyramid. Stockmann thus embarks on a solitary fight to expose the truth in a world where economic interests prevail and the community often remains indifferent.
The "Iosif Vulcan" troupe of the Regina Maria Theater in Oradea presents on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall, the premiere of the show "An Enemy of the People", adaptation by Thomas Ostermeier and Florian Borchmeyer after Henrik Ibsen, directed by Radu Iacoban.

The Regina Maria Theatre will participate with the show "The Son" by Florian Zeller, directed by Bobi Pricop, at the XXXIII edition of the Prapremier Festival in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The team will be in Poland from November 8-11, and the performance will take place on November 10, on the stage of the Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz.
The Regina Maria Theater, in partnership with the Eclectica Cultural Association and with the support of Transilvania Film and TIFF, invites you on November 2 to the Transilvania Hall for a unique event – “Eclectic Halloween”. The Regina Maria Theater for the third time in the last four years in the FNT program: "Category B Goddesses" on the Teatrelli stage and "Rabbit Hole" on the Studio Hall stage of the "IL Caragiale" National Theater in Bucharest, within the 34th edition of the National Theater Festival (FNT).
"A ray of sunshine", a text written by Al.T. Popescu, is a story that is mainly addressed to children (preschoolers and young schoolchildren). It is a story full of candor, lyricism, emotion, and sometimes suspense, having as its fundamental theme: FRIENDSHIP!
The theme of FRIENDSHIP is seconded, in our case, by the theme of SACRIFICE (for fellow human beings, even more so for a friend) in a natural way, with sensitivity, candor, playfulness, humor and the joy of the game, everything being well supported by the ACTORS dedicated to the stage, the character, the audience. Any beautiful story transposed on stage with puppets, with sensitive lyrics, with original music, with emotion and color is the "gift" of the beginning of the season, offered by the ARCADIA Troupe to every child who crosses the threshold of the "Regina Maria" Theater. The Iosif Vulcan troupe of the Regina Maria Theater is launching, starting this season, an educational program dedicated to teenagers.
A group of 15 young people (girls and boys) will have the chance to participate in an acting internship, supported by professional actors and directors. They will be selected following a casting, which will take place on October 9, 2024, from 6:00 PM, at the Transilvania Hall, by director Bobi Pricop and the interim manager of the Regina Maria Theater, Victoria Balint.
