The Regina Maria Theater joins the campaign urging solidarity and compassion for the Ukrainian people

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 4 Mar, 2022.

The Regina Maria Theater joins the "Pray for Peace!" campaign - A Radio Romania Cultural campaign initiated as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, by broadcasting an audio message that calls for solidarity, empathy and compassion with the tragedy of the war in Ukraine.

Today, from 6:00 PM, at the Great Hall, before the start of the performance "The Art of Adultery" and on Saturday, March 5, at 6:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall, before the start of the performance "Three Tall Women", a recording of Ana Blandiana reading a short excerpt with a strong emotional impact from the preface to the book "The Last Witnesses" by the Ukrainian-born writer, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Svetlana Alexievich, will be broadcast.

OPEN CALL | START-UP THEATER DIRECTION

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 28 Jan, 2022.

The Regina Maria Theater in Oradea launches the START-UP THEATRE DIRECTOR program, intended for young directors in Romania.

Thus, starting this year, we propose to organize a competition for directorial projects, with the aim of supporting young graduated directors under the age of thirty. As a result of this competition, the director declared the winner will stage the proposed show at the Regina Maria Theatre, and the premiere of this show will take place during the Oradea International Theatre Festival (FITO).

The proposals must be based on contemporary texts, and the concept of the show must comply with the festival requirements: a show with a maximum duration of 90 minutes, without an intermission. The jury is made up of members of the Artistic Council of the Regina Maria Theatre.

Actor Tiberiu Covaci has passed away

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 22 Dec, 2021.
The Regina Maria Theater collective bids farewell with great sadness to actor Tiberiu Covaci, who has passed away.

TIBERIU COVACI was born on October 24, 1954. He graduated from the "Szentgyorgy Istvan" Theater Institute in Târgu-Mureş (1981). After graduating from the faculty, he came directly to the theater in Oradea, where he remained until his retirement. In the more than 30 years in which he was faithful to the Oradea stage, he played in over 70 shows, conscientiously and tactfully building characters that will remain fondly in the audience's memory. Among them, we mention: Bobi (in "The Florentine Hat"), Caliban (in "The Tempest"), Charles (in "As You Like It"), Béralde (in "The Imaginary Patient"), Arturo (in "La Grande Magia"), Ionescu (in "A Lost Letter"), Rugby (in "The Merry Wives of Windsor"), Nagg (in "End of the Game"), Lucky (in "Waiting for Godot"), the Minister (in "The Stag King"). He was loved by both mature and young audiences, naturally approaching roles in children's shows, including: Red Emperor (in "White Robber"), the King (in "Cinderella"), Bill Tower (in "The Little Match Girl").

The funeral will take place on December 22, at 10:00 a.m., at the Rulikowski Cemetery, Hasaș Chapel.

Eternal rest in peace and light! Sincere condolences to the bereaved family.

In memory of Mircea Bradu

Written by Teatrul Regina Maria on 28 Jun, 2021.

How strange life is! About two months ago – around April, when I had also turned a few years old – Mircea wrote a newspaper page about me and my work, as about a friend and collaborator you knew and appreciated. We even talked on the phone without knowing that it would be our last conversation!

We have known each other for a long time, since 1959, when we worked together as methodologists at the Regional House of Popular Creation Crișana, then, after he started "writing theater" and I became director, I promoted him, based on merit, and we played roles in each of his plays, whether they were called "Vlad the Impaler in January", "White Night", "The Decision", or others that followed.

I supported him, together with Elisabeta Pop, during his long period as director and we remained friends even after we were no longer directors…!

He wished me "happy birthday!" I am forced, like all his friends, to shed a tear for the man who was Mircea Bradu and to express my belief that his name will remain a reference for what literature and art mean - in this generous area for those who love and respect the creators of beauty!

...Someone else has left! Such is life!
