The Regia Maria Theater team begins the 2019-2020 season with fresh forces, lots of positive energy and artistic projects that will take place in several spaces in the city. 

The program of performances begins in September and resumes some of the most recent productions from the previous season, as well as theatrical performances beloved by the audience, exponents of all types of dramatic genre. Until the completion of the modernization works of the stage at the Great Hall, carried out through the project "Romanian-Hungarian cross-border incubator for performing arts", financed under the Interreg VA Romania-Hungary program, the performances of the Regina Maria Theater will take place at the Arcadia Hall, the Trade Unions' Culture House, the Oradea State Philharmonic, the "Florica Ungur" Hall and on the Mobile Stage located in the Oradea Citadel.

The performances of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe will generally start at 7:00 PM, except for those that will take place on the Mobile Stage located in the Oradea Citadel, which will start at 9:00 PM, and the show "Avalanșa", which will take place on October 20, at the "Florica Ungur" Hall, at 8:00 PM. After this performance, the show "Avalanșa" will be performed on October 23 at the Odeon Theater in Bucharest, as part of this year's edition of the National Theater Festival.

The Arcadia Band's performances will be played exclusively at the Arcadia Hall and will start at 11:00 AM.

Come laugh, rebel and get excited at shows you already love or have been eagerly awaiting! The first weekend of September is marked by the most recent show staged at the Regina Maria Theater: THE SOUND OF MUSIC, a charming musical that paves the way for a magical journey into the realm of childhood. The children who play in the show form two casts, so we invite you on both September 6 and 7, from 7:00 PM, at the Trade Unions' House of Culture.

Another recent show that has sparked positive reactions since its premiere is the political comedy "...ESCU", a timeless picture of political life in Romania, with funny and at the same time meaningful moments, which will take place on Tuesday, September 24, also at the Trade Unions' Culture House, at 7:00 PM.

The very day after the end of this year's edition of the Oradea International Theater Festival, the actors of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe of the Regina Maria Theater embarked on an international tour with the show "Hamlet's Trap", by Nedialko Yordanov, directed by Petru Vutcărău.

Thus, between June 10-18, performances took place in three cities in Georgia: Kutaisi, Zugdidi and Tbilisi, the actors from Oradea being rewarded with thunderous applause and sincere appreciation, and on June 19, the show was performed at the U Troitsy Festival in Sergiyev Posad, Russia. The jury of this festival was made up of university professors, editors of cultural magazines, renowned theater scholars and theater critics, who together decided that the team of the Regina Maria Theater deserves the SPECIAL JURY AWARD for the way they managed to convey the passion and enthusiasm with which they live their roles during the show. 

After two weeks of stories spent in distant lands and proud of the appreciation we received, we set off for Constanța, where, between June 26-30, we will make politician Decebal Necșulescu famous: the political comedy "...ESCU" will be performed during this edition of the "Myths of the Fortress" International Theater Festival organized by the Constanța State Theater.

The last performance of this season is the show "Domnișoara Iulia", which is part of the program of the International Theater Festival organized in Turda and will be performed on July 4th.

The 7th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival has come to an end, after eight intensive days of theatre. One of the most anticipated moments of the festival is the award ceremony of the Short Theatre Festival – competition section, which is this year in its 25th edition.

The selection of the SHORT THEATRE FESTIVAL was made by Victoria Balint – head of cultural projects and public relations at the Regina Maria Theatre, and the following performances were included in the competition:

This year, the jury of the Short Theatre Festival was made up of three great personalities from the world of theatre, ION PARCHON, ELIZABETH POP and ION SAPDARU, who carefully analyzed the performances and decided to award the following prizes:

The Regina Maria Theatre team is delighted to announce the premiere of the show „"The Sound of Music"”, music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, libretto by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, based on the novel "The Trapp Family Singers" by Maria Augusta Trapp. This production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of R&H Theatricals and will premiere on Saturday, June 1, at 7:00 PM, in the Great Hall and on Sunday, June 2, at the opening of this edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival.

The show "The Sound of Music" is based on the play of the same name, which, in turn, is inspired by the true story of the von Trapp family. The action revolves around the teenager Maria who, during World War II, goes from being a postulant at the Nonnberg monastery to being the governess of the seven children of the widowed naval captain Georg von Trapp. Through music, Maria will manage to conquer the hearts of the children and the captain alike, and love will help them overcome the horrors of war, from fleeing the Nazis to the economic recession.

Maria's autobiography was the inspiration for the famous film The Sound of Music, directed by Robert Wise and starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The Sound of Music won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and became one of the most beloved musicals in cinema history.

The Regina Maria Theater, in partnership with the Bihor County Council, the Oradea City Hall, the FITO Cultural Foundation and UNITER, organizes the 7th edition of the Oradea International Theater Festival from June 2 to 9.

Spectators are invited to participate for eight days in a theatrical marathon that brings together no less than 19 performances from renowned theater companies from across the country, but also from abroad: Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and France.  

The Oradea International Theatre Festival will include two major sections this year: the competition section – SHORT THEATRE FESTIVAL, reached the anniversary edition with number XXV and the section GUEST SHOWS – OUT OF COMPETITION.

THE SHORT THEATRE FESTIVAL is a unique cultural event in the Romanian theatrical landscape and has a competitive character. This year the selection was made by Victoria Balint – head of the cultural projects and public relations office of the Regina Maria Theatre and includes 8 productions made by both institutionalized and independent theatres. The jury is made up of three cultural personalities of Romanian theatre: theatre critics Ion Parhon and Elisabeta Pop and theatre and film actor Ion Sapdaru.

Two actors of the "Regina Maria" Theater - "Iosif Vulcan" Troupe were born on April 1. Humorous and vibrant personalities, both have open, communicative and energetic personalities, which can be seen in the interviews below. You can see both of them in "...Escu", the most recent production of the Oradea theater.

Between April 5-8, the Iosif Vulcan Troupe will play two of the most beloved shows by Oradea audiences: the tragicomedy "A Very Simple Story" and the successful musical "The Fiddler on the Roof".

 The Iosif Vulcan troupe of the "Regina Maria" Theater is preparing for its third premiere this year: "…I am afraid.", by Tudor Mușatescu, directed by Claudiu Goga, which will take place on Sunday, March 31, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall.

Before my awakening in the theater, my masters were already there. They had built their homes and poetics on the vestiges of their own lives. Many of them remain unknown or rarely visit our memories: they worked in secret, in the humble silence of rehearsal rooms and in performance halls filled to capacity with spectators. So that, imperceptibly, at the end of many years of work sprinkled with extraordinary achievements, they would become invisible and disappear. When I understood that my profession, that my personal destiny was to follow in their footsteps, I also understood that I had inherited from them this heartbreaking and unique tradition of living the present without any other hope than reaching the transparency of an unrepeatable moment. The moment when you meet the other in the darkness of the theater, protected only by the truth of a gesture, of a revealing word.

On March 1st, the 18th edition of the "Artists for Artists" social campaign kicked off, with the indispensable support of theater institutions in Bucharest and across the country. Through this humanitarian campaign organized by UNITER in March and April, funds are raised for artists of all ages, from all over the country, who have medical problems and poor health.

"Caféneaua Pirandello", a show directed by Mihai Măniuțiu based on texts by Luigi Pirandello, will be performed again at the "Regina Maria" Theatre on January 31st, starting at 7 pm. The production, lively, playful and colorful, is being re-run after many months, so it's the perfect opportunity for viewers who missed it so far to see it.
