Actor

Date and place of birth: 24.05.1912, Bucharest

Studies: Bucharest People's Conservatory

He started law school, but finished the Conservatory. Before the war, he appeared on the stage of the following theaters: "Mic", "Comedia", "Comic", "Savoy", and continued at the state theaters in Bârlad, Piteşti, Galaţi, Bacău, from where he arrived in Oradea, in 1966, together with his wife. Although at the age of artistic maturity, he proved to be a modern, intelligent actor, master of his profession - data that allowed him to create, also in Oradea, valuable creations in the roles: Romulus Augustus in "Romulus the Great" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, the Lord in "The Winter Age" by Ion Omescu, Minister Brana in "Public Opinion" by Aurel Baranga, in addition to other, numerous main roles that he had played in the aforementioned theaters, and, undoubtedly, in those that followed, after he left Oradea in 1968.

Miu, Maria

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Set designer painter

Date and place of birth: 16.06.1957

Studies: "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts, Bucharest

Since her debut, Maria Miu has proven to be an exceptional set designer. Not only for the beauty and precision of her sketches, in which the sure line of the drawing happily meets the harmony of colors, but also for her admirable ability to choose materials and follow, in the smallest details, their execution in the workshops (both for the decor and the costumes). She not only follows the correct execution, but also takes the brush and the needle, and effectively works alongside the painters and decorators performing them. It is also one of the reasons why all the collaborators not only esteem her for her talent, but also love her for the dedication and modesty with which she joins them until the end of the work.

Honey Chirilă, Anca

Actress

Date and place of birth: 20.11.1934, Vadu Crişului

Studies: no specialized studies

Anca Miere Chirilă began her stage career at the Oradea State Theatre, as a member of the ensemble, as it was called in those years. She played all her life on the Oradea theatre stage. Talented, without a doubt, patiently and (apparently) docilely listening to the directors' instructions, she slowly but surely built a generous, complex, harmonious artistic destiny, in full harmony with her personal life, lived beautifully, alongside an intelligent and balanced man, who was her husband, the eminent critic Dumitru Chirilă. Her communion with him, as well as her life as an orphan (she grew up in an orphanage), were of great benefit to her, as she knew how to value modesty, work, devotion, friendship. I have rarely seen a person, an actress in particular, who would always question her artistic achievements, always ask for advice, fairly appreciate the contribution of her colleagues to her own successes, etc. Throughout her life, she was a man of exemplary devotion and honor towards the stage and towards her friends and colleagues. Faithful, Anca Miere Chirilă led her entire life in respect of the Ten Commandments.

Micu, Camelia

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Set designer painter

Date and place of birth: 04.01.1957, Braşov

Studies: He graduated from the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, scenography department, class of professors Mihai Tofan and Vasile Roman. He passed his diploma exam with flying colors, with the scenography of the shows "The Gentleman Bourgeois" by Molière and "Theatrical Seasons" by Eduard Covali, presented at the Youth Theater in Piatra Neamţ.

Camelia Micu was employed at the Oradea Theatre for two years, actually two seasons, during which she worked relatively little, or, let's say moderately. Shy, reserved, but also full of common sense, she collaborated with meritorious artistic results, also noted by critics. Fantasy, color and humor can be found in the set and costumes of the show "Mary Poppins" after Pamela Travers, the collaboration with the experienced director Farkas Ştefan being auspicious. She also signed a supple and functional set (intended also for trips and tours) for the show "The Art of Conversation" by Ileana Vulpescu, on which the distinguished teacher, director Zoe Anghel Stanca also collaborated.

Mereuţă Vendramini, Oana

Actress

Date and place of birth: 02.01.1964, Ploiesti

Studies: Institute of Theater and Cinematography "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1990, acting department, class of Prof. Gelu Colceag

The young Oana Mereuţă came to the Oradea State Theatre, as she confessed in an interview, mainly because of the agreement with Alexandru Darie to play the role of Constanza Weber in the revival of Peter Shaffer's "Amadeus" (played with great finesse, admirably by Cristina Şchiopu, who has left the country for good, in the Netherlands). After playing smaller roles in Pierre Chesnot's "Lifting" and Brandon Thomas' "Aunt Charley", she was indeed entrusted with the role of Constanza in the show that was so beautiful, carefully crafted and "soaked" in music: "Amadeus".

Maud, Mary

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Actress

Date and place of birth: 23.07.1908, Bucharest

Studies: secondary

She began her career at Constantin Tănase's "Cărăbuş" Theater, then played in comedies and operettas on several stages in the capital, since 1934 (the "Alb şi Negru" Theater, "Colorado", "Gioconda", "Savoy"), and from 1948 to 1959 at the State Theater in Sibiu. And there, as well as in Oradea (until the date of her death), she played a multitude of important roles, in which she proved her great talent, not only in light plays, but also in scores of great dramatic force: Widow Bohn in "The Dangaard People" by Martin Andersen Nexö, Elisabeth of Valois in "Maria Stuart" by Friedrich Schiller (Sibiu), Claire Zachanassian in "The Visit of the Old Lady" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, which, watching her, you wondered: where can so much strength emanate from such a frail body? Only from his great talent.

Actor

Date and place of birth: 01.06.1931, Bucharest

Studies: Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1954

Before the institute, Cazangiu made his debut as an actor at the Sibiu Theatre, from where, together with Maud Mary, he came to Oradea in 1959. A robust actor, with a pleasant and warm voice, he played important roles in both Sibiu and Oradea, standing out for his simplicity and strength. Petru Rareş from B.Şt.Delavrancea's "Luceafărul" or Tache from VIPopa's "Tache, Ianke şi Cadâr", Crişan from Mihail Davidoglu's "Horia", and more, remained vivid in the memory of Oradea residents. In the summer of 1964, he transferred to Arad, where he played for several years, until he passed away, in the booth, preparing to enter a new show...

Studies: Institute of Theater and Cinematography "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1961, class of Prof. Dina Cocea

Colleague with Marin Moraru, Gheorghe Dinică and Ion Abrudan, with whom he came "home" to Oradea, Ion Martin brought with him to the stage, THE ACTOR, THE MAN. As if "destined" not to play long-term roles (like a great actor of episodic roles from the National Theater Bucharest - Jenică Constantinescu), when he entered the stage, you felt that "someone" had entered. He spoke simply, even when he was silent, like a perfect Transylvanian. He had a special sensitivity and a special warmth. He played one hundred and two roles in his twenty-one years, and it's a great pity that he left us young. But the pleasures of life come at a price... His creation sheet says more!

Martin, Delia

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Actress Date and place of birth: 10.05.1976

Studies: University of Theatre Arts Târgu Mureş, 1998

Delia Martin made her debut at the State Theatre of Oradea in the year she graduated from the Faculty of Theatre in Târgu Mureş. Cute, beautiful, with a pleasant voice, the actress managed to play, in a single season, two consistent roles, which she coped with brilliantly. In a happy tandem with Mariana Vasile (Donnişoara Cucu), she managed to create a sympathetic character in the role of Eleva Zamfirescu, emphasizing both the naivety and the nagging curiosity of the teenager. Unfortunately, the show ("The Nameless Star" by Mihail Sebastian) was mediocre, although the cast did not lack several leading actors of the theatre.

In Jean Genet's "The Maids" – also an average performance – Delia Martin painstakingly, but not with enough directorial guidance, constructed the difficult role of one of the two maid sisters: Solange. She played it with emotion and conviction, intelligently complementing the energetic performance of Paula Chirilă (her sister, Claire).

Marinescu, Ion

Actor

Date and place of birth: 20.11.1930, Craiova

Jeanot, as his colleagues called him, was the concrete expression that the "institute" does not give you talent, perseverance, total dedication, or work power - a confirmation of the slander expressed by Dem Rădulescu Bibanu: "Students leave the institute as they entered: with talent, or without talent!" Coming from Craiova, with the return of director Radu Penciulescu, he installed himself at the head of all the casts, taking on the burden of most of the performances. Demanding of himself and his colleagues, he worked "hard", even at the most banal rehearsal, and in performances he "pulled" them after him, without allowing himself the slightest relaxation. In all the roles he was praised by the critics. "He was stunning in "The Man Who Brings Rain" (by R. Nash) - an impostor and a dreamer: Ion Marinescu. He brings hope and confidence... This actor is admirable...". In "Cyrano" (by Edmond Rostand), "a brilliant performer" - in an intelligent performance full of ideas and meanings, exemplary in its homogeneity" (directed by Valeriu Moisescu).

Manolescu Uleu, Tatiana

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Set designer painter

Date and place of birth: 21.04.1929

Studies: "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts, Bucharest, 1958

Tatiana Manolescu Uleu came to Oradea, together with her husband, the actor Octavian Uleu, in 1961, and remained here until her retirement. She designed sets and costumes, and for a few performances only the costumes, for a relatively small number of performances, if we compare their number to the seasons, which means that, with some exceptions, she signed about two performances per season, i.e. the norm imposed by the position. It is important to note, however, that the theater always featured a reasonable number of set designers (Nagy Sándor, Eliza Popescu, Maria Haţeganu, Bíró I.Géza, Vioara Bara, in addition, there were no shortage of prestigious collaborators – Romulus Peneş, Tody Constantinescu, François Pamfil, Ştefan Hablinski, Paul Bortnovski, Vladimir Popov, Dan Jitianu, etc.). But, since not only the number of performances is important, but also the value of the works, we note an indisputable fact: the performances on which he collaborated with creative directors, with whom he met on the fragile terrain of stage metaphor, the results were remarkable.

Maliţa, Maria

Set designer painter

Date and place of birth: 16.04.1957, New York, USA

Studies: "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts, Bucharest, Painting department, 1981

An eminent student at the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Arts in Bucharest, she has been assisting since her early years on several films directed by valuable artists such as Dan Piţa ("Justice in Chains"), Tudor Mărăscu ("Singur de carte"), Alexa Visarion ("Năpasta"), Francisc Munteanu ("A Patch of Sky"), Malvina Urşianu ("The Extras"), Nicu Stan ("Storm in the Pacific").

She debuted – a little later – in the theater, designing the set design for the show "Tartuffe" by Molière, at the Casandra Studio. During this time, Maria Maliţa also painted, participating with her works in group exhibitions (1981-1982) and in municipal and republican exhibitions (between 1981-1983).
