We, humans, are dreamers by nature, consciously and unconsciously, and dreams are, very often, the result of our more or less hidden thoughts, of desires crammed into a pocket of the heart or a drawer of the mind. What separates us from animals is precisely this awakening, as an understanding of the meaning of the word MAN, and the result of this understanding is respect and love for your fellow human beings. Otherwise, we become beasts.
The domestic comfort of two couples is disrupted by a petty suspicion and a hastily improvised alibi. The lie, told to save face, quickly gets out of control and draws a third couple, completely strangers to the conflict in which they find themselves caught, into an absurd game.
The situation reaches its climax in a common space, where the characters end up sharing the same table and the same decor, but without sharing the same reality. Each couple lives their own version of the truth, and the overlapping of these parallel realities generates an irresistible comic tension and constant suspense.
How the other half loves is a sparkling comedy about the erosion of relationships, poor communication and the often ridiculous efforts we make to maintain an impeccable image of married life. With a subtle British humor and a dizzying pace, the show invites the audience to look, as if through a keyhole, at a domestic disaster constructed with precision and irony.

The Regina Maria Theatre's approach to constantly welcoming young spectators from high schools and gymnasiums continues in 2026 through reading performances in schools, stagings of texts from the school curriculum, and by including in the repertoire productions that address pressing themes for this age group. awakening is a natural part of this journey, proposing not just a show, but a framework for reflection on a digital reality that teenagers experience daily, often without real protective tools.
The Awakening follows the story of Amalia, a 16-year-old student at a prestigious high school, caught between the need for validation, the pressure to perform, and the invisible violence of the online environment. The announcement of her qualification for the national stage of the Romanian Olympiad sparks an avalanche of reactions, but not on the high school page, but in the unmoderated and uncontrollable parts of the internet – culminating in a compromising image that begins to circulate among her classmates and on the city's gossip pages.

Queen Maria Theatre: You chose to stage in Oradea an adaptation of the text "Broken Glass", written by Arthur Miller towards the end of his career as a playwright, being a play perhaps less well-known than "Death of a Salesman" or "The Crucible", but with a great socio-political charge. What influenced you to make this choice and what do you feel is the greatest directorial potential of the text?
Roman Doljanski: I was in negotiations with the theater. It was commissioned… not this title, but it was commissioned by the theater; it was the theater's desire to choose a title from the American dramaturgy of the last century. Recently, I worked with another text by the great playwright Eugene O'Neill, in Sibiu, so, within this direction, the question arose about why it would be interesting to choose from American dramaturgy. Mainly, Eugene O'Neill; there is also Tennessee Williams, who is known everywhere, and Arthur Miller, who although he is an important playwright, is perhaps less known, and his presence in the theater repertoires – both globally and in Romania – is no longer as significant as it used to be. So the idea was for Arthur Miller to be the one suggested, but the choice for Broken Glass belonged to Timofei. My choice was the playwright, and the play was the director's choice.
Timofey Kuliabin: Yes, I chose this play because it is one of the author's last texts; it is not that well-known and not translated. Moreover, it is not translated into Romanian. It may not be the most well-known play, but it is interesting to me because it explores the family drama itself. There are only three main characters, and the play is a typical family drama, which is my direction. I like stories in which conflict arises between people with very close relationships — in this case, husband and wife. That is on the one hand. On the other hand, although it is a family drama, the play also touches on several very current social issues, such as the new ethics, the moral dilemmas of modern society or the new wave of anti-Semitism. Thus, it is not just a simple family drama, but also covers social issues that can be integrated into the same production.
In November and December, the Regina Maria Theatre continues its series of national collaborations through the show exchange project, bringing to the Oradea audience two powerful, relevant and courageous productions of the Romanian independent scene. Both performances will take place at the Transilvania Hall and are co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration.
The Regina Maria Theater continues, this season as well, its mission to be present not only in the heart of Oradea, but also in the midst of the communities in Bihor county and the country. Through both troupes – Iosif Vulcan and Arcadia – TRM manages to promote the love of theater among both children and adults in the Bihor localities, reaffirming its role as an open and involved public institution.
Starting this week, the Regina Maria Theater is launching a new edition of the program TRM Academy, dedicated to children, teenagers and adults passionate about the stage.
The courses are coordinated by actors from the Regina Maria Theater and offer participants an exciting foray into the world of theater, through improvisation, interpretation, and personal development exercises.

Roman Doljanski is a theater critic, curator, and playwright of Russian origin. Since 2022, he has been working exclusively outside his homeland, becoming one of the best experts on international theater in Europe.
In 1993, he completed his studies at the Russian Institute of Theatrical Arts (GITIS) in Moscow, and five years later he became co-founder and artistic director of the NET (New European Theatre) Festival, an event that introduced a significant number of European directors and theatre companies to the Russian public. In parallel, from 2006 to 2022, he coordinated "Territoria" - the International Festival-School of Contemporary Art, the first multidisciplinary project of such scope in Russia, bringing together theatre, dance, film, visual arts and music in an educational framework dedicated to young creators. During the same period, he was director and chief playwright of the Theatre of Nations, one of the most innovative theatre institutions in the country.
Wednesday, October 29, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM, the Regina Maria Theater in Oradea joins the official events organized in King Ferdinand Square to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Queen Maria of Romania — the sovereign who contributed decisively to the creation of Greater Romania and to the consolidation of the country's prestige in the world.

The last show of the 12th edition of the Young Theatre Festival proved brilliant through the director's vision and the actors' performances, through the scenery and costumes. IL Caragiale's play, the director proves to us Vlad Trifas, is not dated. It can be brought without being essentially modified, with ingenuity, at the level of the message, into the deepest topicality.
The Regina Maria Theatre has the honor of collaborating, for the first time, with one of the most important theater and opera directors of his generation, Timofei Kuliabin, who is staging the show „"The Broken Mirror"” a screenplay by Roman Doljanski after Arthur Miller.
Born in 1984 in Russia, Kuliabin trained at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow, and after graduation joined the Novosibirsk Academic Red Torch Theatre. In 2015, at the age of 31, he became the artistic director of the institution, making him the youngest artistic director of a Russian theatre at the time.
