„"The Oradea Puppet Theatre offered us the legend "Olt and Mureş" by Al. Mitru in a show of high artistic quality, poetic and tragic at the same time. Stylized with great refinement and discernment, following folkloric suggestions, the puppets, handled with elegance, with movements decanted hieratically, acquired symbolic values, they managed to convincingly suggest the aura of nobility required by the text. Particularly expressive in its simplicity was the image of Hăşmaş: an immense, one-dimensional puppet, built of thick white string, simultaneously suggesting the mind and body of an old man burdened by years and an ancient stone settlement, a creation that will remain anthological." Heroic-popular comedy by Alexandru Popescu and Dimitrie Bălan, premiering in the country

„"The play by Alexandru Popescu and Dimitrie Bălan (both editors at the Oradea newspaper Crişana) is based on a noble intention, namely to serve the young spectators an inspiring history lesson, combining the charm of the popular myth with peasant humor [...], the main idea being that of love for the motherland, this love representing the motive of all the outlaw actions against the invasion. The outlaw, the forest and the country represent an indestructible unity and the authors use this fact to highlight the main thread of the play: the natural communion of the people with the land of the homeland.

The text is valuable, especially from an ideological point of view, the main idea being that of love for the mother who gave birth... The structure of the play, characterized by a rapid alternation of plans, requires a dynamic directorial vision, in which the predominant element is tension.

«"Pui de om" is a debate, with the means of scenic art, on the meaning of authority in the state, withering, through a folk-esque fable, the imperial palace and the camarilla, torn from the country. The main hero, from the typological family of Făt-Frumos, is the trustee of a centuries-old popular experience, in which honesty, courage, justice, sincerity have earned their rightful place. Director Petru Diaconu, emphasized in the acting interpretation precisely the moments in which the ethical meaning of the lines gains relief, giving warmth to the transmission of a message that could have fallen into didacticism, thus realizing in an uplifting sense the educational content of the staging. […]

„"Happy inspiration for the author who found here (in the aforementioned fairy tale) a rich material full of picturesqueness and content, an opportunity to manifest the wisdom of our people who have always known how to separate the wheat from the chaff, who have fought for the clean, honest element to prevail over hypocrisy, laziness or stupidity. Using simple language, with an unforced popular character, alternating verse — of the same folkloric inspiration — with prose, Alecu Popovici's play unfolds fluidly, respecting the narrative of the fairy tale with the same title, so familiar to us.

The management of the puppet theater was equally inspired when they chose the piece for the repertoire and when they gave the performance the character — required by the text — but emphasized with high-quality artistic means throughout its development. […]
