Actor

Date and place of birth: 09.04.1930, Craiova, d.1981

Studies: Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1955

He was part of the troupe that founded the Romanian section of the Oradea Theater, today the "Iosif Vulcan" Troupe. He was, from the beginning, one of the basic actors of the collective, appearing in both drama and comedies. With a special facial expressiveness and body plasticity, he gave life to over a hundred roles in his twenty-five years – most of them true creations: Mişu Feleacu in „Nota zero la portare” by V.Stoenescu and O.Sava, Figaro in „The Marriage of Figaro” by Beaumarchais, Philip Francis Queeg in „Revolta de pe Caine” by Herman Wouk, Ilihoi in „Cartea lui Ioviţă” by Paul Everac, and many others. After celebrating a quarter of a century of theater with the title role in the show „Bătrânul” by Maxim Gorky, during the premiere of „Cartea lui Ioviţă” he had a stroke, immediately after entering the stage. But, he played the role to the end, and left the stage to a storm of applause – the last! And the next day he passed away. He was an actor until the last second of his life...

Rusu, Oana

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Actress

Date and place of birth: 10.10.1978, Iași

Studies: University of Theatre Arts Târgu Mureş, 2003

About Oana Rusu we could say that in Oradea "she only played for one summer". She came in 2003, in the fall, after graduating from the theater faculty, which is why her name is only found on the posters of a single season. Extremely talented, displaying a seemingly banal physique and face, the actress proved, from her debut, that she possesses an unusual expressiveness. She gave personality to the few roles she performed on the stage of the Oradea Theater - Fatima in "The Arabian Nights" by Roland Schimmelpfennig, Felippa in "The Fireflies", a text belonging to Marius Damian, making her stand out. She played in the show "Electra" by Mihai Măniuţiu, fitting perfectly into the choir of overwhelming importance. She really shone, in several roles, in Alexandru Hauvater's show: "The Night of January 16th" by Ayn Rand, where she played a character (Jane) excellently, but also danced and sang in the cabaret moments of the show. Today, the actress plays on the stage of the Operetta Theater in Bucharest.

Set designer painter

Date and place of birth: 01.02.1972, Cluj-Napoca

Studies: "Ion Andreescu" Academy of Visual Arts, Cluj-Napoca, 1997

The young set designer from Cluj-Napoca has made his name since he was a student. His first collaborations at the Oradea Theatre were in 1997, with two young directors who also came from the Cluj theatre school: with Radu Ghiţulescu on "Năpasta" and "Doctor fără voie", and with Tudor Chirilă on "Pseudolus" by Plautus. He also designed the set for the shows "If Love Aren't..." by Marin Preda and "Electra", by Sophocles and Euripides. Elaborate, functional, bearing the mark of good taste and a perfect understanding and collaboration with the directors, the sets designed by Cristian Rusu were appreciated by critics for their originality and surprising ability to "speak" about one era or another, while still maintaining a modern air in perfect harmony with the text and its message.

A serious, sober actor of German structure, working on stage without compromise, he performed many important roles in other theaters (Sibiu, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureş, Arad), and in Oradea he performed fifteen important roles, including: Director Hinkfuss in "Tonight they improvise" by Luigi Pirandello, for which he was awarded in 1978: "Liviu Rozorea - writes Ileana Berlogea - energetic and persuasive" in a remarkable performance, "by team excellence"; or Rhesos in "Rhesos (The Thracian King)" by Euripides, at a level that certified his professionalism.

Reisel, Radu

Actor

Date and place of birth: 26.11.1923, Tecuci

Studies: "ILCaragiale" Theater Institute, Bucharest, 1948

After starting his career at the National Theatre in Bucharest, he continued in Bacău, and in 1956 he came to Oradea. An intelligent and witty actor both on stage and in life, he played several roles on the Oradea stage – big and small –, his most important achievement being the role of Carol in „Ciocarlia” by Jean Anouilh. Vera Călin notes in her long review of the show „Ciocarlia”, the contribution of all the actors. After praising the performances of Eliza Plopeanu and Ion Marinescu, she notes the talent of Radu Reisel (Carol) and Ilie Iliescu (Wanwick). In 1963 he emigrated legally to Israel, where he continued his activity in Romanian and Hebrew until his retirement, without severing ties with his colleagues and friends in Romania. He was always a good man, gentle, caring, generous and kind, cheerful, optimistic.

Prigoreanu, Marlena

Ensemble actor

Date and place of birth: 11.06.1950, Fălticeni

The young Marlena Prigoreanu came to Oradea in 1971. With an attractive physique and good diction, she entered, through a competition, the State Theatre of Oradea. She played, in the show of director Nicoleta Toia, a major artistic role (they were the girls from the Court of Stephen the Great, the companions of Lady Maria - Marlena was Bălaşa) in the show "Apus de soare" by B.Şt.Delavrancea. She was entrusted with a small role (a guest at a cocktail party) in the show "Omul care..." by Horia Lovinescu. Demonstrating talent and seriousness, she then played two important roles - the characters being young girls - in the show "Procesul Adam şi Eva" by Rudi Strahl and "Unchiul nostru din Jamaica" by Dan Tărchilă. In 1973, through a competition, she entered the Puppet Theater (now the "Arcadia" Children and Youth Theater) in Oradea, and became one of the institution's main actresses, where she played dozens and dozens of leading roles with exemplary dedication and talent, until her retirement (acting in shows and being retired).

Presecan, Mariana

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Actress

Date and place of birth: 19.09.1964, Dumitreş

Studies: "Szentgyörgyi István" Theatre Institute, Târgu Mureş, class of university lecturer Constantin Doljan, 1986

She graduated from the theater institute as the head of her class. She and her husband, Dorin Presecan, came to the State Theater in Oradea through ministerial assignment. They also debuted together, in the play „The Three Nights of a Love” by Hubay Miklós (directed by Dan Alecsandrescu, who knew them from Târgu Mureş). About the role of Iulia, the Poet’s wife, in this truly „poetic” play, critic Valentin Silvestru wrote that „Iulia is more terrestrial (in contrast to Daniel Vulcu – The Dreaming Poet, nn), but gracefully floating through events with discretion and charm, understanding and not understanding, suffering and enjoying youthfully”. Prof. Ileana Berlogea noted, in her review, that Mariana Presecan was „impressive in her vain attempts to protect her husband, the one in the play, naturally, from the attacks from those around her”.

Presecan, Dorin

Actor

Date and place of birth: 30.07.1959, Luduş

Studies: "Szentgyörgyi István" Theatre Institute in Târgu Mureş, 1986, class of university lecturer Constantin Doljan

A graduate, like his wife, Mariana (his classmate), Dorin Presecan came to the State Theatre of Oradea in 1986. "For a young actor," he declared then, "the collective in which he develops matters a lot, the meeting with the directors." "In Oradea," he added, "I found an extraordinary concern for the growth of young actors.". A very pleasant presence, the tall young man, an elegant figure, blond-brown, sober, with a very beautiful, well-toned voice, Dorin Presecan announced himself capable of embodying the most varied dramatic characters, especially, but also comedy, so the arrival of the young couple (the Presecans) in the theater was obviously a definite gain. Dorin Presecan debuted, alongside Mariana Presecan, in the show "The Three Nights of Love", in a smaller role, but important in the economy of a show seen by many critics, and because Hubay Miklós was a distinguished writer known in Romania - being also from Oradea! - as the President of the Hungarian Writers' Union.

Popescu, Mia

Actors Archive Iosif Vulcan Troupe

Actress

Date and place of birth: 19.01.1943, Bucharest

Studies: secondary

He played in an artistic ensemble in Bucharest, before coming to Oradea for a year in 1965, after which he left the town. He returned for three seasons, then left Oradea – permanently. With a pleasant physique for an actress and obvious, but undeveloped, qualities, she played relatively many important roles, always leaving a pleasant impression, without reaching the maximum ceiling. A useful and necessary appearance in any theatrical collective. About "The Counter Reader" (by Paul Everac) the columnist had words of praise, noting the "remarkable dramatic tension" due to all the performers, among whom appeared the student Adrian Pintea - the future actor of great talent. Mia Popescu is among them. In a remarkable, homogeneous company, Mia Popescu brilliantly coped with a "filler" role, in fact very important in the economy of an admirable show ("The Flatworm" by Vladidmir Mayakovsky) - the caricatured, grotesque characters, constituting a perfect background for illustrating an upstart, ridiculous, but dangerous world.
