Attempts to establish a stable Romanian theater troupe in Oradea only yielded results at the beginning of 1954, when actors Grigore Schitcu, C. Simionescu, Gore Teodorescu and Maria Vasilescu were invited to establish a committee to form the Romanian theater section, under the leadership of Andrei Dauer. Thus, after a tortuous course, in the summer of 1955, the Oradea State Theater was established, which would function (until 2011 when the theaters would separate) with two sections: the Romanian one (currently known as the Iosif Vulcan Troupe) and the Hungarian one (Szigligeti Tarsulat).
